# How to Play

## 1. Download the Client

Newell RO uses the **Ragnarok 2025-07-16 (English)** client. Old clients from other servers cannot
connect.

Download it from **[newellro.cloud/download](https://newellro.cloud/download)**.

## 2. Extract

Extract it into a new folder, for example `C:\NewellRO`. **Do not** extract it inside `Program Files`,
because Windows blocks writing files there and the game may fail to save its settings.

## 3. Create an Account

Accounts are created on the web panel. See [Create an Account](create-account.md).

## 4. Run the Launcher

Run **`Newell RO Launcher.exe`** in the game folder. The launcher downloads the latest updates
automatically (maps, NPCs, quests, items) and shows the news and the WoE schedule. Press **PLAY** to start
the game. Always start through the launcher so your client never misses an update. See
[Patch the Client](patch-client.md).

## 5. Enter the Game

Enter your username and password, select the **Newell RO** server, and create a character.
